Once the tattoo artist is finished, you are responsible for taking care of your tattoo.
The tattoo is a wound and therefore it is important to have good hygiene routines until it has healed.
Start by removing the compress after 1-4 hours.
Before touching your new tattoo, always wash your hands with soap and water. Dry your hands with a new clean towel or air dry.
Start by washing the tattoo and the surrounding skin with a mild soap (preferably liquid) and water. Let air dry.
Apply the ointment recommended by the studio.
Then apply new ointment morning and evening. Remember to always clean your hands before applying.
The most important thing is to keep the tattoo dry and clean.
Applying ointment too often or in excessive amounts often results in delayed healing and poorer results. Follow your tattoo artist's recommendations.
You can shower with a tattoo that is not healed (short showers). During healing, any type of bathing should be avoided.
Please wear clean, airy clothes while the tattoo is healing.
Avoid sunbathing until the tattoo is completely healed. However, being out in the sun is only beneficial.
Keep in mind that open wounds can spread infection. Therefore, avoid training where the wound may come into contact with another person or training equipment.
Avoid touching the tattoo unnecessarily, don't pick!
If you have problems with your tattoo, contact your tattoo artist, the healthcare system and preferably the municipality's health protection unit.
Good luck with your new tattoo and feel free to ask if you are unsure about anything.
